It’s Business and It’s Personal

Mar 1st, 2019 by Martha D'Adamo

I always love that line in The Godfather, when Michael Corleone says, “It’s not personal, Sonny, it’s strictly business.” It is one of the most quoted lines in movie history, and while watching The Godfather recently (for probably the millionth time!), I had a light-bulb moment about D’Adamo Personalized Nutrition and our business.

When Peter and I started this company almost 25 years ago, it was responding to a need the readers of  Eat Right 4 Your Type had for supportive products and services. We literally had no prior experience in the nutritional supplements market, and so it has been a learn-as-we-go experience. What has driven and fueled this company is the deeply held vision that personalized nutrition, and the role that food plays in health and well-being, is transformational. In the naturopathic community, this has always been a core concept, long before the medical community and the general public recognized the importance of nutrition as a critical piece in the wellness puzzle.

Fast forward 25 years, and you can’t listen to the news without a new study about food, fueling nutrition wars about what to eat. Steady in all of this has been Peter’s deep and abiding belief, backed by years of research and clinical experience, that it is not only what you eat but who’s eating it. One of his most quoted lines has been “Don’t ask me what you should eat; tell me who you are and that will guide your food choices.”

Such is the key to the relationships we’ve held with our customers for going on 25 years: Tell us who you are, because to us, our business is personal.

At the tip of this journey to personalization is blood type. It is the simplest genetic marker that provides a roadmap to who you are as an individual, what you should eat, how stress impacts you and the best exercise program for you. Knowing your blood type opens the door to a deeper understanding of yourself and starts a journey of personalization that can last a lifetime—one that can be enriching, healing, restorative and ultimately life-altering.

It is so simple to find out your blood type. Ask your doctor, buy an inexpensive  Home Blood-Typing Kit or do something good for humanity by donating blood and they’ll tell you your type.

For those of you who’ve been on this journey with us, thank you. For those of you who are just starting out or are curious about The Blood Type Diet, welcome. It’s good to know you.
