This week, I'll discuss the core design behind our company, why it differs from other companies in philosophy and practice, and why it works so well. 

I've just finished designing a very exciting meal augmentation product that will be available in versions for each blood type. More on that in a subsequent email. However, I was surprised when the first round of proposed formulations came back from our production and formulation scientists. The levels of many nutraceuticals in the formulas were set very high, as if the amount needed to mimic the ingredient was being made into a standalone product.

As most of you know, I have had a long career in clinical medicine. During that time, I became aware of two different processes that take place in the human body as it tries to live and heal. Let's call them 'The Long' and 'The Short' game. These describe two different forms of body intelligence, and each contributes to the total picture.

Long Game: The Foundation Layer

Like a river, the long game is characterized by its ongoing nature. Rivers sometimes take courses that are not optimal, due to terrain (genetics) and other variables such as rainfall (lifestyle). To stay on course, you need insights to design the best solutions, since each river will have its own unique topology. However, rivers are very powerful and, if diverted incorrectly, can cause significant damage. That is why it is so important to ensure that the life-long habits you choose are appropriate for your circumstances.

With the correct course charted, one then needs a tincture of time and a watercolor wash of directed lifelong intelligence. That's why I was so perplexed by the high doses in the prototype formulas: they did not match the effects expected from a diet rich in those elements. We'd be digging a canal with no awareness of where it would lead.

Short Game: The Precision Layer 

Many years ago, I was working with a well-regarded marketing expert to place some of our products in retail spaces such as pharmacies and health food stores. After careful analysis, he concluded it would be next to impossible. His analysis was as entertaining as it was depressing:

"I can sell any of these products easily in three to four years, when they become the 'next big thing.' Until then, the educational curve would be too great, and retail stores don't like having to educate. They just want to sell."

In addition to the ABO type line, I've also designed over 60 products for highly specialized indications. These are our Genoma line of formulas. Many of these formulas were developed to meet my needs in the clinic, so I know they are effective. These are often described as versatile, condition-oriented, or systems-support formulas that anyone can use.
