Jacquelynne “Jackie” Featherly had a background in natural medicine long before she started following The Blood Type Diet. Jackie had been a homeopath for more than 25 years and had a thriving practice and was studying to be a Naturopathic physician. In 2000, at the age of 54, she was diagnosed with colon cancer. After consulting with physicians and undergoing a sigmoidoscopy, Jackie was informed that surgery would be necessary to remove a large tumor. As she is a practicing Jehova’s Witness and her religious beliefs prevented her from accepting blood, Jackie was forced to choose between shrinking the tumor with radiation or simply waiting. She decided to treat herself naturopathically, but 8 months later, the tumor began to grow. Unfortunately, because of her worsening condition and religious beliefs, she was turned away from several hospitals. 

Fortunately, Jackie heard about the Cancer Treatment Centers of America and contacted them. It was a welcome surprise when they agreed to perform the surgery to remove the tumor while respecting her religious beliefs. During the 8 hour surgery, Jackie’s red blood cell count was stabilized naturally and her surgery was successful. Jackie worked with a Naturopathic physician at The Cancer Treatment Center who provided support during surgery and recovery and also introduced Jackie to the Blood Type Diet. Jackie completed her radiation treatments in April 2000 and remains cancer-free.

Jackie has since completed her Naturopathic studies and has resumed her medical practice and also runs a store where she sells Right for Your Type supplements, teas and groceries. “When patients come to my clinic, the first thing I do is check their blood type. With that done, I have a track to run on. I educate them on the foods they need and carry a line of harder to find foods and snacks. When they are done with their 2.5 hour appointment, they are empowered with a list of recommendations.” Jackie says. We all know how hard it can be to find compliant foods and she does her patients a wonderful service by providing quick access to compliant foods and supplements.

A devotee of the science of blood type, she is an IfHI Master – earning her certification under the tutelage of Dr. D’Adamo himself. She is also one of the first practitioners to have access to Dr. D’Adamo’s SWAMI PRO, computer software which looks at several biometric markers, personalized medical history and a number of other factors and creates the only truly individualized diet. Having access to SWAMI PRO has allowed her access to vital resources using each person’s DNA – this really helps Jackie in her “one size does not fit all” approach. “Each patient is unique and has their own unique factors that determine their nutritional food plan and course of treatment. In addition to her tireless work with her patients, Jackie has spent hours developing “Let’s Get Healthy” classes to promote the principles of the Blood Type Diet to thousands nationwide. She has held over 100 seminars in Michigan, Texas and Maryland. “It is so true that if people do not understand, they will not see the importance of following the program.” Says Jackie. “Personally, I am a cancer survivor, and continue to deal with health issues. I owe my life in part to Dr. D’Adamo and the Blood Type Diet and am using the very knowledge I teach others to keep myself going.
