As I get older, I become more reflective about the year’s passing and the start of a new one. We accomplished a great deal in 2009. We stabilized the company, and we initiated new systems that helped us provide better value and support to our customers. No matter what business you are in, whether it is natural healthcare or widgets, the core of your business is your relationship with your customers. All of us at NAP feel a deep sense of connection and gratitude for the relationship we share with our customers, and as a way of saying thank you for your loyalty, we will provide free ground shipping for the month of January on all orders. So if you are simply reordering or if you are looking for specific assistance with your new year’s resolutions for weight loss, detox, or better health, NAP will ship those products to you free of charge. This is our way of helping you stick with those resolutions and start the year off right. Another piece of news I’d like to share with you is about the changing look of our website. Over the holidays, I’ve had the chance to take a look at the site and evaluate what worked and what didn’t, and you’ll be seeing a lot of changes in the layout and design of the site. These changes have been made specifically to make it easier to navigate the site and to find what you are looking for. Although it’s been a huge amount of work, it has also been very inspiring, as I have had a chance to re-envision our product concept and messaging. You may also notice another “new look.” The GenoType Diet has just been released in paperback with a new name and a new cover graphic -- Change Your Genetic Destiny with The Revolutionary GenoType Diet. Same great book and information, new packaging and design for paperback sales. I love the new look, and I was fortunate that the publisher allowed me some creative expression in working on the design concept for the cover. Most importantly, however, is the power of the GenoType message, which has remained constant since the first draft of the book. We have the power to change our gene expression, which can influence our own lives and the lives of future generations. Here’s to your health and well-being in the new year, and on behalf of all of us at NAP, our thanks for sharing the journey with us. Peter |

| A New Beginning: Dr. D’Adamo’s Seven Day Detox Plan | ||||||||||

During the holidays, you’ve probably been eating and drinking too much, and it’s likely that you’ve strayed into avoid territory on more than one occasion. Now that the new year has begun, it’s a good time to revive your body with a cleansing detoxification program. For a generally healthy person, Dr. D’Adamo suggests a one week program of whole, organic foods and supplements but does not recommend fasting. He believes that, “Fasting is one way to detox your body, but probably not the best way. I would only suggest fasting if you are under the guidance of a physician.” Start by choosing only those foods that are considered beneficial and highly beneficial for your type. If you need some menu guidance, refer back to your Eat Right, Live Right, Cook Right or GenoType Diet books or the recipe database on www.dadamo.com By eating beneficial foods and taking supplements that are compatible with your blood type or GenoType, you will be cleansing and detoxifying your body and allowing all the body’s systems to function at their very best. Purchase organic when possible and stick to buying whole foods, rather than processed foods from a box, bag or can. Start the day with a tall glass of water with a squeeze of fresh lemon juice. Continue drinking water throughout the day. Water helps with cell regeneration and helps to cleanse the body. Aim to drink eight to ten glasses of water per day. Avoid being around harsh chemicals and steer clear of chemical cleansers – try vinegar, lemon juice and baking soda instead (not only are they better for you, they are better for the environment too). Get some fresh air! Bundle up and go outside for a walk. You’ll get your blood circulating, your muscles pumping and the clean, crisp air will revive you. As part of your detox protocol, Dr. D’Adamo recommends some herbal supplements for each blood type. Each protocol is to be done for 7 consecutive days. Blood Group A

| New Year's Resolutions | ||

With the ringing in of the New Year comes all the promises and resolutions. With most people I’ve spoken to over the years, there is a rush to make long lists of all the things they want to do in the new year, and as the days and weeks go one, the lists grow a bit dusty. Perhaps one or two of the items on the list have been accomplished, and the other items remain undone, like a psychic weight around their necks. Personally, I dislike looking at a list of things that haven’t been done! It’s a little depressing, and it is also energy draining. About five years ago, I “resolved” to not make empty New Year’s resolutions and to approach the process of making my resolutions differently than I had in the past. My lists are shorter, and some of the items are rather mundane, but by taking the time to really isolate the changes I want to make in my life, each of these small steps lead towards the bigger changes that can be seen in the grander scheme of things and not just within a 12 month cycle. As part of the process of looking towards the New Year, I try to find time to reflect and acknowledge all that has been accomplished as the year grows to a close. I look at my lists as I make two – one for my personal self and family and the other for the house/general projects. (I also do one for work, but that is separate list entirely!) I try to limit the items on the list to five, knowing that this is probably the maximum number of changes I am capable of implementing. This varies from individual to individual, and you may find that you can have more items on your list. What is important here is knowing yourself well enough to know what you can and cannot do! My personal list contains items for self-improvement, whether it is cooking more so that we have nourishing food in the house or finding daily time for meditation. What is critical here is writing the resolutions in an active voice that affirms the resolution. Rather than write “Meditate more” on the list, I write “I am willing to create the time to meditate daily.” At the beginning, I know that this might just be 5 minutes a day, and I have no value or judgment on that, as I know that 5 minutes leads to 10, and by establishing a routine for this practice, I will be able to incorporate this change into my daily life. My general projects list is much more concrete. Paint my bathroom, repair the lights in the dining room. On this list, though, I leave room for the bigger “reach” projects like finishing the basement, as I know that there are a number of things that have to happen before this occurs. Putting it on the list keeps me focused on this and acts as a prod in the side – in January, I’ll clean out the basement, as stage one of this project. In February, I’ll move all the storage bins, in March, etc. Having the bigger goal allows me to break down the tasks involved in ultimately making it happen. Once my lists are done, I read through them one more time, and then I place them in a file on my desk. On the last day of each month, I read them so that I can reconnect with the energy of my intentions for the year. So often, we make our resolutions, and then we promptly forget about them. Referring to them regularly keeps me honest and on track! It also allows me to determine if what I had initially intended is still appropriate, and if not, I can make alterations or changes. Ultimately, making a resolution isn’t about New Year’s, it is about new energy and our desire to embrace this in our lives. Although the start of a new year is a great place to affirm and invite change in our lives, we have the ability to make changes each and every day of our lives. We can use the symbol of the new year to awaken our desire for change, and we can use the reality of every day life to move those resolutions off of our lists and into our lives. Happy new year and happy new energy, Martha |
